🪼 FRIDAY FUNNY: To Pee or Not to Pee… That Is NOT the Question! 😂💦
Picture this: You’re enjoying a beautiful day in the BVI, swimming in crystal-clear Caribbean waters, when suddenly… ZAP! ⚡ You’ve been stung by a jellyfish!
And here comes that ONE friend who proudly announces, “Don’t worry, I’ll pee on it!” 😳
🚫 STOP RIGHT THERE, CAPTAIN PEE PEE! 🚫
Despite what you’ve seen in movies, peeing on a jellyfish sting is NOT the solution! In fact, urine can actually trigger more stinging cells to release their venom. Talk about adding insult to injury! 🤦♂️
🐠 Here’s what you SHOULD do:
✅ Get out of the water and stay calm.
✅ Rinse with seawater, NOT fresh water, which can trigger additional stinging.
✅ Carefully remove visible tentacles using tweezers, not bare fingers.
✅ Soak in hot (not scalding) water for 20–45 minutes to help relieve pain.
✅ Seek medical attention for severe symptoms, extensive stings, or uncertainty about the jellyfish species.
⚠️ First aid can vary by jellyfish species, so follow local medical guidance. Vinegar helps with certain species but can make other stings worse.
🌴 The moral of the story?
At Dive BVI, we believe in making a splash… just NOT that kind of splash! 💦🤣
Save the pee for the potty, and leave the jellyfish first aid to the pros! 🪼
